Having operated as a 'Trading & Consulting' business successfully for over ten years as a sole trader, MJ Services (GB) Ltd was formed to reflect steady growth and demand on the company.
Mick Jarvill, the Managing Director has a background or aircraft maintenance with the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, and as a helicopter pilot with the Army Air Corps. He also served as an exchange pilot with the Royal Navy on 845 Naval Air Commando squadron flying Sea King HC4's.
The culmination of his service career was as a Major and second in command of the British Army Helicopter Development & Trials Squadron. During this period, he was responsible for directing the team that successfully demonstrated to the Ministry of Defence the need of a 'State of the Art' night-capable attack helicoper by demonstrating thermal imaging (TI) systems and night vision goggle (NVG) equipments on a number of less able platforms. These intensive (night) mission demonstrations played an important part in the UK MoD deciding to purchase the Westland Apache. D&T Squadron also joined with industry to develop a number of products for urgent operational requirment for the British Army to enhance and upgrade their Lynx and Gazelle helicopters for service in the Gulf War. |

Noteworthy successes for MJ Services includes the installation of covert infrared lighting to the majority of the UK military helicopters, self-heating survival bags, NVG compatible aircrew torches to the MoD, and thermal identification beacons to the UK Home Office.
Current private initiative projects for the MoD include the highly conspicuous ThermBright unpowered thermal targets and ChillBreeze portable cooling systems. ThermBright targets are currently being tested and evaluated in a number of operational theatres and ChillBreeze has been purchased as part of an urgent operational requirement for the cooling of bomb disposal suits in Iraq.
MJ Services (GB) Ltd offers a unique balance of Defence procurement experience, based on the perspectives of both the military user and the procurement authorities. It also has extensive knowledge of import and exports procedures for military equipment routed through the UK, an has a network of customers and associated worldwide.
